From Our
Travelers

“I can’t think of enough superlatives for this trip!  Also, I can’t imagine going to Iran without Mr. Soufi, our national guide.  His kindness, humanity and good humor made a beautiful and fascinating country even more so.  All hotels and food were great.  The most memorable part of the trip were the friendly and welcoming Iranians.”

“The experiences we had during the tour were made more memorable because of the exceptional depth of knowledge of tour leader, Ari Bondt.  His ease with world travel and his willingness to go above and beyond what was expected of him in order to provide us with a travel experience - will always be remembered.”

“Hotels were superb and food was generally excellent.  I always enjoy traveling with Dr. Jan Fontein and his extensive knowledge of Buddhist art and cultures.  National guide, Trudi Jafar was a great help to us and our concerns and welfare.  Bus drivers were all excellent.”

“It was a marvelous trip to an incredible country.  The tour itself was handled by a wonderful national guide, Yousaf.  Yousaf solved all the myriad of infrastructure problems we encountered along the way and made each day memorable.  I was impressed with the focus of the tour, which is to visit the various NGOs and local agencies involved in the reconstruction efforts of the country.  My heart was so touched by the country and the people, that in August of this year, I returned to volunteer for two months, with orphans and widows - two of the most vulnerable populations.  It was the most difficult thing I have ever done, but I am ready to return, “Inshallah,” next year and possibly stay there.”

“Libya was thoroughly enjoyable and terrific.  Distant Horizons put together a very well organized trip with an interesting scholar and a great national guide.  I have also traveled to Iran with Distant Horizons and would gladly travel with them again.”
